Advise on ~5 weeks in Japan. Solo travel, first time

Hello /r/JapanTravel! I (31M, Denmark) will be solo travelling around Japan for rougly 5 weeks for the first time.

Some of the plans are still left empty, where it’s the more general area I want to explore + It’s still work in progress. I will book Ghibli Museum and JR pass ahead of going. For now I have only booked the flight there, no hotels or transport.

**Interest wise**: Food, tech, beautiful views and explore the vibes

**I would love your input on:**

1. In your opinion, should I completely skip Sapporo and focus my time more in Tokyo and the other areas already planned more south?

2. Any area I should spend more/less time in?

3. Any recommendations for festivals, events and good vibes that I shouldn’t miss out on?

4. I try to book hotels and such in advance alongside having a set itinerary to save a bit of money. In return I lose freedom throughout such a long stay. Is this the right approach?
