Is there a maximum amount of cash that I can pay in a convenience store?

I want to purchase an item worth about 350k, the most I paid in a convenience store is 100k. Is there a limit to how much cash I can pay with?

  1. Just 10 一万s? Pretty sure I’ve paid way more than that in one go. I think I paid more than that last month due to all the bills. I’m sure you’ll be fine.

  2. At least 285,000 JPY because that’s the amount I had to pay (in cash) for taxes at a Mini Stop earlier this year ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry) You’re welcome Japan

  3. Yes, there is. By default, it is usually set at 300000 yen per single transaction for 7 eleven, Lawson, Family Mart, Daily Yamazaki etc stores.

  4. It may depend on the website you’re buying from, the payment service, or even which conbini chain.

Amazon.co.jp for example has a limit of 300,000yen for convenience store payments.

  5. Here am I, thinking what a stupid question.

But then reading the rest of the comments, the limit legends seem to be real…

    Moral: be humbler
