26 day Itinerary Oct 29-Nov 23 – Tokyo, Osaka, Sendai, Aomori, Sapporo and Hokkaido

This is my 3rd trip to Japan but my first solo trip there/ever! The purpose of my trip is to explore north Japan and spend majority of it exploring Hokkaido and it’s cities. Any recommendations would be helpful as I currently have a lot of the trip somewhat unplanned as I am leaving a lot of time to improvise. Below is what I have so far

Day 1: Arrive in Tokyo through Haneda in the evening. Check into Airbnb and get sleep schedule on track.

Day 2: Since it is my 3rd time to Tokyo I plan to explore the city by foot visit a couple of my spots.

Day 3: October 31st. Celebrate Halloween. Out drinking and enjoy the craziness

Day 4: Shinkansen to Osaka, check into Airbnb on the Dotonbori and explore the area for the evening including Shinsaibashi shopping area.

Day 5: Osaka castle, Shitennoji temple, Kuromon market, Den Den Town.

Day 6: Tsuktenkaku Tower and Shinsekai district.

Day 7: choose your own adventure day. No accommodation, spend another day in Osaka or head to Sendai early

Day 8: Sendai check into accommodation in evening and head out for some night life.

Day 9: Sendai Castle ruins, Daikannon statue, Matsushima bay and or Shiogama area

Day 10: Sendai to Aomori for the day to break up the trip to Sapporo

Day 11: Aomori to Sapporo

Now I have from day 11 to day 26 open. I plan to spend at least 4-5 days in Sapporo. Im thinking I will make my way up to Cape Soya one day and then explore much more of Hokkaido. If you all have any cities or towns that you would recommend Im all ears.

Hakodate and Asahikawa is on my list of places to visit as well as.

  1. 4-5 days in Sapporo seems long. I would suggest 2-3 days and then adding more for day trips (e.g. Otaru).
