How to do “My number card”? Japanese ID?

I received my CoE and attached had a application process for the “my number card” (マイナンバーカード). I was wondering if others had this? And the process confused me because it asked for an ID number on the application, but I was never given that. And I can’t find good websites to walk me through the process.

Originally I thought this was a Japanese ID but apparently it’s not???! So now I’m confused on how to even get a Japanese ID? I heard you do it at the airport, but is it at Tokyo airport only? Or can it be at any Japanese airport? (I have another flight cause I’m further away from Tokyo)

I’ve never been on a flight to another country and obviously I have not gone through customs so I’m walking blindly into this I feel like 😅

  2. You can’t apply for your mynumber card until after you arrive and register at city hall.

It sounds like you will enter Japan in Tokyo, so all formalities will be done there, including getting your residence card. The flight between Tokyo and your final destination is a domestic flight, so there will be no ID checks on the way.
