Is this sushi grade tuna?

It doesn’t say it anywhere. But I bought it from asian market in refrigerated section. It does have a soy sauce packet so that makes me think it is.. but it just doesn’t say it.

  1. Did they really put one packet of soy sauce with a 1/2 lb of uncut fish? That’s funny…

  2. Toro is pink with veins of fat running through it. That is shit tuna as far as I’m concerned.

  3. Looks like so, that being said, I wouldn’t get sashimi from a place such as 99 ranch😰

  4. This is not O Toro.

To add – typical O Toro (not even pacific bluefin) is $100/lb. It’s also a completely different colour.

  5. That may be blue fin, but it sure as shit isn’t ootoro

Where is the fat and marbling?

In fact, I don’t think that’s even bluefin. The color is all wrong.

To me, that looks like big eye or yellow fin.

That is sketch AF. Would not buy. Would not visit again.

  6. It is fine. The sell by date is less than 2 weeks and the usage of the cut labeled Toro implies sushi grade. If you are worried use a cold water wash with maybe a little salt to wash off the top film and then taste a slice. If not dear it and make the inside very rare. It should be fine
