Teaching adults only

Do any of the big schools offer positions were you can teach adults only? If so, which schools are the most reputable? Thanks in advance!

  1. Gaba. Their kids certification process is optional. Though depending on your branch, you could be shooting yourself in the foot financially.

  2. You wouldn’t make much money. Max per hour you could realistically make after sales tax would be like ¥3000 or so. With a group of kids, you could easily make around ¥8000 an hour after tax

  3. Aeon used to have some adult-only schools, but I don’t know if they’ve been phased out now.

  4. Berlitz is usually adults only though I think a few branches have kids classes

  5. It’s not really about the company, but about the location of your school /branch. If you can get assigned to a branch in the CBD, you know a place where lots of people work, but not a place where many people live, it’ll be adult classes. If you get assigned to the suburbs, it’ll be kids classes.

  6. It’s possible, but you might investigate companies that focus on teaching business classes primarily then. There are a few companies that mainly send teachers to companies to teach classes there, for example. I don’t really know of any big national ones, but there are some in individual prefectures that do that.
