Yuzawa, Niigata Electricity provider options

Hello,

I’m thinking of buying an apartment in the Yuzawa region as a holiday home and I’m looking for an electricity provider that can allow foreign credit card payment and has a 0Y monthly fee.
Happy to pay a higher rate for the usage as it will be a holiday house.
English facilities would be a benefit but not essential.
Was looking at Looop but will take all recommendations.

Also, I’m not from a cold climate, so over winter is there anything I will need to do to avoid pipe freezing? Ideally I’d shut the power off when I’m not using it to avoid the charges, but the water heater is electric so not sure if I need to leave it running?

  2. Honestly, you’re better off hiring a property management firm to handle these things for you. They’ll be able to regularly air out your place to help prevent mould growth. They’ll be able to help coordinate routine inspections when they come up (for example my building has a quarterly inspection of the smoke alarms and an annual pipe cleaning, among other things). They should be able to help manage your utilities (both ensuring that bills are paid and that utilities are properly shut off when not needed and turned on when they are). They can act as an emergency contact incase something happens and urgent access to your apartment is required (for example if the tenant above you causes a water leak).
