Yo fellow travelers ,
My buddies and I have been working on crafting what we think is an epic Japan adventure, and we wanted to run it by this amazing community for some valuable input. We’re super stoked about exploring Japan and her culture, but we’re also aware that there might be some hidden gems or logistical tweaks we might have missed.
Here’s the rundown of our itinerary:
23/11 – 25/11: Tokyo
26/11 – 28/11: Fukuoka (Arriving by flight)
29/11 – 30/11: Nagasaki (Arriving by train/bus)
1/12 – 3/12: Beppu (Arriving by train/bus)
4/12 – 5/12: Hiroshima + Miyajima (Arriving by JR)
6/12 – 7/12: Kobe(Arriving by JR)
8/12 – 11/12: Osaka (Arriving by JR)
12/12: Day trip from Osaka to Koyasan (Arriving by JR)
13/12 – 16/12: Kyoto (including day trip to Nara) (Arriving by JR)
17/12 – 18/12: Takayama (Arriving by JR)
19/12 – 20/12: Kanazawa (Arriving by bus)
21/12 – 22/12: Matsumoto – Kiso Valley (Magome & Tsumago) (Arriving by bus)
23/12 – 24/12: Fujikawaguchiko (plus a thrilling day at Fuji Q) (Arriving by bus/JR)
25/12 – 9/1: Tokyo (with day trips to Kamakura, Yokohama, and Hakone) (Arriving by bus)
We’ve tried our best to make it logical both in terms of locations and transportation. So, what do you all think? Is there anything that screams out for improvement? Any must-see spots that we’ve unwittingly overlooked, or any timing/transportation issues that might give us a headache?
We’re all ears for your insights, anecdotes, and suggestions! Your experiences and advice could make this trip even more unforgettable.
Thanks in advanced !

Kobe is not really worth two days, it’s more a city for business and regular living. Unless you have a personal connection to the city I’d just stop for a few hours on the way back from Hiroshima and knock out the key attractions (night view, eating Kobe beef).
Koyasan is accessed by Nankai trains, JR only gets you halfway there and even if you have the JR Pass it’s not worth trying to save a marginal amount of money while giving up the times transfers etc by taking Nankai all the way from Namba.
