Hello, I recently applied for a Rakuten bank account and I’ve been waiting for approval. How much time does it usually take for them to verify my identification? Additionally, for my application, I used my resident card and health insurance. However, my resident card displays my previous address, not my current one. Could this potentially cause an issue since it doesn’t match the address I provided on the back of my insurance card? Unfortunately, I won’t be able to visit the ward office or any other location for another week, but I need to open a bank account as soon as possible.

From start to finish, it took about 6 months to get my Rakuten bank account up and running.
I had the same issue with the address and was denied. Then they asked to send it with the correct address and it was successful. In total it took about 3-4 weeks or so until I got the bank account and debit card. I’d say register at the ward asap and just wait for a response.
