Hey everyone!
I spent a year in Nagoya as an exchange student back in 2004, and attended Yatomi highschool.
While I was there, I noticed that any time I, or any other exchange student/non native Japanese speaker would say “soo ka” instead of “soo desu ka” we would get laughed at by native Japanese speakers.
Is it considered feminine to say “soo ka” instead of “soo desu ka”? or was there some other reason that this elicited laughter?
This has always tugged at the back of my brain.
