Took me a bit to get it but yeah this is funny. The sudden jumping up at the 19 count has always been a pet peeve of mine
Wish they would cut down on the countout teases tbh they do it once or twice every big match
This is so true.
Eddie became instantly one of my favourite because he did a count out spot and got in at like 17 instead, it looked way less forced
Every damn time
I thought this was about wrestlers beating up 19 y/o 😂
Honestly, the refs are and have been one of the worst parts of NJPW for years. Or maybe the lack of authority they’re given. Guys will fight in the audience for five minutes and the referee won’t count. You can set them on fire and they won’t DQ you. Oh, but Okada puts his foot on Naito’s chest to pin him? No, no! You’ve gone too far! Red Shoes refuses to make the count!
Ha, it’s definitely overdone, but the crowd usually does react for it, so I can’t blame the wrestlers for using it. Good chance for guys to catch their breath, too.
Kayfabe-wise, I think the commentators just need to sell a bit more that some guys are up and aware of the count, but might be using as many seconds as possible to recover after a rough bump on the outside.
