It’s very much an active temple, early a.m. sessions (that allow visitors, one of my school’s deans was a regular). I can hear the gongs in the morning if the wind is right.
Given some advance arrangements, people can stay longer for deeper/fuller study. It’s pretty important for the Soto sect.
