  1. > Unexpected developments awaited in the backstage after the match. Kiyomiya said, “Mr. Oiwa, I feel a lot of ambition next to me. Pro Wrestling Noah and New Japan Pro Wrestling, and if Mr. Oiwa doesn’t mind, why don’t you try Noah with me?” asked to join forces. Oiwa also responded, “Thank you for giving me this chance. I feel the same as Mr. Kiyomiya.”

    > Oiwa said, “I promise New Japan Pro Wrestling fans one thing. I don’t know when it will be, but I will definitely come back to this ring stronger.” It looks like he will be gaining experience at other domestic organizations, not overseas like the Young Lions so far.

  2. Not a good move, young lions need variety of style, this is exactly why they need to go abroad

  3. I guess the title passes the mark of being vague enough, but I do think this still needs a spoiler tag.

  4. Big fan of the “domestic excursion” vibe that’s going on here. Not only will Oiwa gain invaluable experience from other puro wrestlers, but it’ll likely strengthen NJPW & other domestic promotions ties. Not to mention I’m sure he’ll be looking around & scouting for potential signings.

  5. NJPW brass were like “this Oiwa is showing a bit too much promise….pair him with Kiyomiya”

  6. I think this seems like an interesting idea, and I’m sure it will play into his persona long-term in some way, similar to how LIJ guys are partially defined by their time in Mexico. And it’ll be very interesting to see how NOAH book him after what happened with Kaito in the G1.

  7. I think this was the deal. You get our future Ace in exchange for your future Ace.

  8. As someone that watches both NJPW and Noah I can say that this will be awesome! He will learn to be serious and maintain kayfabe in Noah, while also getting used to working very believable and stiff.

To pair him with Kiyomija is also interesting, as that also allows him to assume the mentor role and he will have someone new to team up with etc.

This is only positive and those that shit talk Kiyomija have no clue what they are talking about…

  9. Interesting. I know they typically send out some older talent to AJPW or NOAH like we saw with Mutoh or Nagata in AJPW and Kojima in NOAH.

  10. Kiyomiya was really good in spite of his win loss record this tournament. I made a point of watching his matches and liked everything he did. Hoping he comes back for more guest spots. I think more mingling and sharing of talent across the Japanese promotions is a good thing.

  11. I really like this move. NOAH gets a good young wrestler who can fill out the undercard, and Oiwa gets some good experience working with different guys. I imagine he’ll head over to CMLL or Rev Pro for a bit after this.

Good to see the relationship between these two promotions is healthy again.
