Fiddle and mandolin player here. I used to play in sessions when I was at home in the uk, and that’s one of the few things I miss, drinking beer and playing music into the night.
Anybody know of any sessions in the Tokyo/Chiba areas?
Not sure exactly what you mean by “old time” music, but there is an Irish bar near Oosaki Station called The Shannons that has traditional Irish music and occasionally what I would call American mountain music (Appalachian?). Confused me a bit to have American country mixed in with Irish trad at the St. Patrick’s Day show, but still fun.
Their next event will be on August 26th (seems to be a bit more kids focussed). They also show the rugby and other sports, which is fun.

There’s an Irish owned pub in Yoyogi called An Solas that often has live trad music, apparently by a local circle.
Could try below, you see them at St Patrick’s day parades etc.
