AC keeps running after turning off

i have to press the off button twice to actually turn it off. it pisses me off because sometimes i forget about this issue as I’m running the AC on for a long time. but sometimes i need to turn it off abd then this happens ugh
it’s a daikin AC and I’ve noticed this problem in my other room with the same brand too and also at my previous apartment too. the other brand of AC i have in a different room doesn’t do this.

  1. How about you RTFM. It’s in cleaning mode after you press it once. Twice cancels the cleaning mode and it shuts down completely.

  2. It will switch to cleaning mode. If you want the AC to be completely off then you need to press the button twice.

  3. I bet there’s a reason for this. When you hit off, it stops the compressor but probably keeps the fan running so the drain has back pressure to allow all the condensation to leak properly.

Because they don’t use air gaps / p-traps ,potentially what condensation is left in the unit will get stuck. Not sure if this is a Daiken specific feature but your manual or a quick google search of the model# can find a manual.

  4. I had no idea that was a cleaning mode. How long does it run for before turning off automatically and how often should you do this?

I always just click twice and turn it off.

    WHY DIDN’T I KNOW THIS
