That salary range. It’s from “hard pass” to “it’s ok”
Oof, lots of red flags on this one. Let’s count!
1. Huge salary range to try to entice applicants.
2. Weird contract length (“Employment period: August, 2023 ~ March 31, 2025”). Likely means someone jumped ship early.
3. “Nontenured – Non-tenure track”
4. Vague language: “Holidays: Basically Saturdays, Sundays and holidays”
5. Overtime hours: Monthly salary includes 10 hours of estimated overtime
So they want an IB trained teacher for 250-350K a month?
Awful.
Yikes.
Is 350k even ok for a dp teacher? Sheesh I know the market in Japan is bad but even my awful T3 in Taiwan pays way better than that.
There is A LOT of drama at this school. Saw it on the Okinawa Facebook pages.
sounds like a great job for a non-native science teacher in the developing world but I still wouldn’t recommend it since it ends in a year and a half.
Wow, pretty surprised about this… I had heard this school recently partnered with some schools in Tokyo and that it had pretty good standing… To offer 250k to IB teachers in maths/sciences is… well.. as others have said, probably the explanation for the weird contract dates and likely why some1 left (?)
If anyone has any information regarding this, I’d love to hear about it in a DM!
No DP on their website. IB scam.
