I currently live in Taiwan and I would never buy Japanese stuff in Taiwan because they are too pricey comparing to the price in Japan.
But I go to Japan regularly and buy lots of stuff while I was in Japan. Does my type of behavior contribute to trade deficit?
The thing is the Japanese Yen has dropped significantly so Japanese goods are now so cheap, but Japanese goods in Japan are way cheaper than Japanese goods in Taiwan so I don’t buy Japanese goods in Taiwan. I do like Japanese made stuff a lot though, but I always wait until I go to Japan to buy them.
