Japan trip itinerary Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka-Nara-Hiroshima- Hakone-Tokyo (18 days)

Hello,

This is my second draft of my Trip to Japan for 18 days. My main concerns are am I missing anything that could be fun to do. I also don’t know how far to reserve some of the the things like

1. JR PASS 2. Team Labs 3. Nintendo World.
2. I am also concerned with getting to Hakone from Hiroshima I don’t know how much planning I need to do here considering it’s a train + 2 busses.
3. I have a lot of time in general so I think for things to do I have it pretty spread out but, there are a few days where I wouldn’t mind other ideas. (I like Coffee, Video Games, Antiques, Knives, Anime)

  1. Also:

For Wifi I was going to get an Airlo App, I planned to get a Sunica Card and JR Pass.

  2. You’ll want to do the monkey park the same time you do the bamboo grove. They are (more or less) right next to each other.

Also recommend that you ascend to the top of Fushimi Inari as it’s a fairly long path up a small mountain with some points of interest along the way / at the top.

I have been to Hakone, but we are going again and plan to check out the open air museum. If you are heading there and haven’t been, you might want to check it out. Also, if you are going to Gora the town there is very steep – make sure you book near to the cable car stations if you aren’t near Gora Station, especially if you are bringing much luggage.

Recommending the Osaka Amazing Pass for your visit / filling out your day based on the pass.

The USJ express passes are very, very expensive and the Nintendo World rides are the most expensive / sell out very fast. We actually decided to skip USJ due to the outrageous express pass costs & likely the long long lines to justify the price.

    Adding:

Hakone will be 2 trains and no busses if I recall (depending where your hotel is). The Hakone Tozen (sp?) line takes you from the Shinkansen station to Gora (Hakone). There may be 3 total trains … Shinkansen -> express -> local train.

  3. Some of the Hakone onsen have shuttles that will pick you up from Odawara station. That can relieve some of that hassle

  4. Just a tip, as someone who got Kirby Cafe reservations for five people earlier this year, they release them on the 10th of the month before your date (for example, tickets for October are released on September 10th) at 6PM JST. I was lucky enough to check on the exact day but I had to refresh repeatedly to get a good time slot that could fit five people and I live here so the time worked for me. They sell out fast and you may not get the time you want but just be ready to go at that time for whatever time zone you’re in.
