What’s your favorite little pleasure living here?

For me it’s those 130 yen kakigoori condensed milk bars they sell at the conbinis that are like coated on the outside in the milk, then they have the crushed ice in the middle with a little more condensed milk

I need to chill the fuck out though, been having like 3 a day the past week

  1. The hot food counter at Lawson’s, those chicken bites filled with melted cheese are little snippets of heaven!

  2. I like the 5pm music playing over the town speakers. I hear it when I’m on my way home and kinda makes a nice clean end to my work day.

  3. Another thing, jingles everywhere. You always hear a distinctive tune playing somewhere, be it at the train station as a train is about to arrive, when you walk into a Family Mart, when the sushi that you ordered arrives on a conveyer belt, even my bath plays a little song when the water reaches the desired temperature. I find it all so adorable!

  4. I really enjoyed the beer machine which was a 2 minute walk from my apartment. There’s something about buying a few cans of Asahi without even having to interact with another human.

Unfortunately, they got rid of it after building a new house behind it – replacing it with a typical vending machine. Maybe for the best, I think my beer consumption definitely went up.

  5. Looking at the sky. Sunsets seem to last longer and skies are blue-er than where I’m from.

  6. I’m not really into sweets before but I fell in love with sweets made/flavored with red beans. I always go at least once a week to a restaurant near my office that always had it as a dessert. I love the ice cream and candies too! My Japanese colleagues call me an old guy because of it even though I just turned 30 😂

  7. Going to a restaurant.. even a year or two later, and the staff remember my order or special request

  8. There was a vending machine about 1 minute away from the apartment and I won a bonus drink from it twice, very rare but the fact it’s possible is such a nice little surprise

  9. Not popular, but humid summer. Feels way less heavy than a dry hot summer.

I also love the smells here. Although I really miss the chimney smell during winter.

  10. This specific chocolate brand I have only found in Kure that’s the cheapest but tastes awesome

  11. – neighborhood super onsens: I’ll hit one up after a long run and it’s a fantastic day.
    – huge variety of 3rd wave coffee shops within walking distance
    – playgrounds everywhere for my kids to play on

  12. I used to hate it at first but I learned to love all the limited seasonal snacks, I just stock when there’s a clear winner that I know I will miss.

That suika frapuccino slaps by the way.
