hi! hope this is the right sub to ask. basically what the title says, does anyone have personal recommendations for places that have nice Italian food/especially pizza? (aside from saizeriya 🙏)
i’ve tried 2-3 restaurants that had some great stuff although it feels like there’s no cream/tomato base in many places and so pizza is pretty different from what i’m used to back in Europe… (also one of my friends is Italian and will be celebrating her birthday soon so I’d like to take her to somewhere nice!)
thank u for all ur recommendations 🙂

For a safe bet that you can book online, I recommend Da Michele in Ebisu.
Tokyo had a lot of pizza places in some recent world rankings so that could also be a good research point for you (but I think Da Isa’s quality dropped too much).
Look for Dino’s in Setagaya ku. It’s a bit out (Chitose Karasuyama I think) but as Italian as it comes, and Dino is a star. He’s on Facebook.
Not been there in years, but Tonino’s might still be around in Shimo Takaido, but Tonino left years ago and I don’t know how authentic it is now.
A somewhat dated [thread from /r/Tokyo](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tokyo/comments/fgt0d9/authentic_italian_pizza_in_tokyo/) as new shops pop up quite often. And a [more recent thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tokyo/comments/158t0nf/tokyo_recommendations_thread_italian_cuisine/), but one that specifically ignores pizza.
I’ve been to Pizza Strada in Azabu and Pizzaria Bruna in Gotanda multiple times, but I don’t think I have the greatest palate.
I’m partial to Salvatore Cuomo under the Keihan hotel in Yotsuya: [四谷のピザ・イタリアン ピッツァ サルヴァトーレ クオモ|SALVATORE CUOMO](https://www.salvatore.jp/restaurant/yotsuya/)
after 15 years in Tokyo – this is the best option. Recommended to me by Italian friends. Gets long lines in the evenings. [http://www.da-isa.jp/](http://www.da-isa.jp/)
Seirinkan
Only 2 pizza but they are amazing: buy both.

COSTCO!
PIZZA BARS, ANY OF THEM ARE GREAT
Seirinkan, PST, Da Isa, Da Michele, Stacca, Savoy, Savoy tomato cheese, Fray’s famous pizza etc. There’s really plenty of great quality pizza.
* Any of the Savoys
* Pizza Studio Tamaki
* Freys
Pizzaria Tatsu in Jujo is one of my favorite pizza places in the world.
If you’re looking for Neopolitan style pizza specifically, go to any of the ones accredited by the Neopolitan Pizza Association and listed on their site

Massimotavio in Eifukucho. Best pizzas and lasagnas ever.
I’m not Italian or anything so idk but I liked Napolistaca in Komazawadaigaku.
Trattoria Toscana “La Gioconda” located in Mita, right in front of the Italian embassy is amazing.
**Neapolitan:** Seirinkan
**Deep dish:** Devilcraft
**New York:** The Pizza (Hiroo), but I’ve never been to Rocco’s, and I hear that’s great.
Savoy Tomato and Cheese in Minato

Pizzakaya in Roppongi is an American style pizza joint. Absolutely fantastic pizza for the price.
Devilcraft is king if you want Deep Dish with an assortment of spectacular locally brewed beers.
Seirinkan is my favorite ‘Italian” style pizza in Japan.
Try out Devil Craft. I tried it once, and wanted to go back. But it’s never on the way where I’m going. Great deep dish. Not a bad price tooo
Pizza Studio Tamaki
Agree with a lot of these – just to add Pizza Strada in Azabujuban. Great pizza and some good side dishes too.

All of these are great suggestions, especially Savoy. I know you’re looking for Italian-style, but in case you get the craving for some NY style, Tokyo has tons of great options for that too!
Nim’s Pizza in Azabu-Juban: my absolute go-to, especially their pepperoni-jalapeño slice, but their Sicilian is also incredible. (And for my fellow midwesterners, they have RANCH.)
Rocco’s Pizza in Oji: just incredible, probably the best NY I’ve had in Japan. Everything is so well done and they have a HUGE variety of toppings.
The Pizza in Shimo-kitazawa: I wasn’t blown away by this place but still very delicious pizza. I recommend their pepperoni!
