esim for iPhone – which brand do you recommend and what to look out for?

I’m an entrepreneur and want to add an esim to my iPhone so I can stick to one device and don’t need to give out my personal number. I checked and my iPhone does support esims. The purpose fo the esim would be primarily for phone calls (outgoing and incoming) as I got the data part covered.

Which brands do you recommend and what has been your experience with dual sims? Anything to look out for?

  1. If you are using the phone for a lot of outgoing calls, you should get a phone call plan. I looked on Iijmio they have 2gig plan + unlimited calls for 1800yen a month campaign. Rakuten has their voip app for free domestic calls, so their lowest tier plan is 1000yen. I haven’t tried it so I don’t know the quality of the calls. Povo has 1600yen monthly unlimited phone call plan, but I’m not sure if you need to add data toppings to get this plan.

  2. Ahamo (subsidiary of Docomo is less than 3k a month and includes 20G of data and some talk time. Check their website they might have a better talk plan. Getting the eSim installed and working was quick (from application to the email with the Q code). My phone registered in immediately with no problems.
