Day Trip from Osaka → Himeji + Kobe

I am planning a daytrip to Himeji and Kobe, from Osaka.

* Osaka → Himeji
* Himeji Castle
* Himeji → Kobe
* Maiko Marine Promenade *(view Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge from there)*
* Any other places to have bridge views, other than Maiko Marine Promenade?
* Kobe Nunobiki Ropeway
* Return Trip will be taking the cable car to 風の丘中間駅.
* ***Is it possible to walk the rest of the way down from the Gondola lift station?*** I want to visit Nunobiki Waterfall.
* Kikuseidai
* Night view

Regarding places to eat:

* Kassui-ken Restaurant (Himeji Castle)
* La Shomon (near Maiko Marine Promenade)
* Are the course sets serving Kobe Beef?
* I seen statements that Matsusaka Beef > Kobe Beef. But I will definitely get Matsusaka Beef in Osaka.

**Dilemma:**

I plan on visiting Himeji Castle first. I would like to have lunch at Kassui-ken Restaurant too. That leaves La Shomon for dinner. However, this will cause some travel issues.

* Himeji Castle → Shin-Kobe Station *(around 45 mins)*
* Lunch: Kassui-ken
* Shin-Kobe Station → Maiko Marine Promenade *(around 30 mins)*
* Maiko Marine Promenade → Kikuseidai *(around 1 hr 30 mins)*
* Dinner: La Shomon

This is very back-and-forth trip. I feel like it is a waste of travel time, despite having a dedicated day for them.

Alternative *(much more efficient, but lack of dinner location)*:

* Himeji Castle → Maiko Marine Promenade
* Lunch: La Shomon
* Maiko Marine Promenade → Shin-Kobe Station
* Shin-Kobe Station → Kikuseidai
* Dinner: ???

  1. you pay a lot of money to get to japan and you spend a lot of “dont have to work today days”. like, thousands of dollars for a few days there. I am not sure sitting in transit to get here and there more than necessary is a good use of the hard earned time.

    on the other hand you will miss out on eating at a certain spot. seeing how there are unlimited good spots to be eating at…

    given the choice of either spending a lot of time going back and forth OR picking another spot to eat, I know what I would do

  2. We had a nice Kobe beef dinner at wakkoqu. The shinkobe location is attached to the station. It is also walking distance to the cable car that takes you up to the kobe herb gardens. Nice views from there weather permitting.

    Could be an option that makes your itinerary simpler.

  3. **”Is it possible to walk the rest of the way down from the Gondola lift station? “**

    Yes. I walked up from Shin-Kobe to the top of the gardens via the waterfall. Entirely possible to walk down. However note the gardens close at 5 (in summer, the very top is still accessible only) and the gates are closed. I’m not sure if you can exit the midway gondola lift station after the gardens closing.
