Got an offer from IB English (aka American Language Center) and everything sounds good aside from providing company housing. I have an ESA with me and will be securing my own accommodations. I am aware ESAs are not a thing in Japan, but I use this term to stress the importance of having her with me. She is a rabbit and in all the places I’ve lived in she has never caused any damages, noise-complaints, etc.
Can the company force me into the housing arrangements ‘or else’ (i.e. drop the job offer)? If it’s not actually mandatory, in spite of pushiness, how could I make it clear that I won’t be using their facilities?
