IT Career in Japan – Cybersecurity

Hello everyone.
I have finished 2nd year of my computer science studies. Next month i will have to choose the specility i will be working in – i chose cybersecurity. Right now i’m doing my internship as a network technician, in my local Mayors Office, for 6 months. In the end i will sign a contract for 2 years. It’s a great chance to get some expirience and to get my masters degree. My responsibilities are building, maintaining and administrairing local network, writting some SQL queires, making graphs for accountants, writting some patches for our CMS in PHP and repairing pc’s. In my free time i’m programming in python (Django and Flask apps). Is cybersecurity a good choice ? Is it hard to land a job in Japan as a junior ? Should i get some certificates like Comptia or Cisco, while still in college (aside from JP launguage cert) ? Btw i’m form Europe and i’m 22 yo.
Thanks for all the answers in advance !

  2. If you searched in this forum, it is actually almost impossible to land a job in Japan as a fresh graduate, unless you are already in Japan by the time of application. This is because of something called Shuukatsu.

You will need at least a few years (preferably 5 years) to either apply for a job in Japan directly or get yourself transferred there within your company.

I am in IT but not in cyber security but I think it should be ok since many people do not work in a job that is similar to their major.
