Renewing visa without passport ? (It’s being renewed as well)

Just as the title states. I got all the documents from my company and filled out the application form for renewal as well. My passport is however at my embassy being renewed ( it will take about 20 business days), which will put me past my current visas expiration. Is it ok to go without passport ?🤔 I asked my embassy if they gave a form or something saying that the passport is being renewed and they said they didn’t.

  1. You can start the residence status renewal process up to three months before expiration. Immigration doesn’t care if your passport is expired to renew your residency status. Next time it would be better to do the process in reverse.

  2. At Immigration there will be a form with a box to tick to tell them why you don’t have a passport to show them, and (at least when I had to do it) the very first reason will be that your passport is off being renewed at your embassy. These days records are kept through the Resident Card system, so as long as you have that, they can process you easily.

This situation comes up all the time (particularly for people who got their first passport in order to come here; the expiration dates will thus be close on the calendar). You have nothing to worry about.
