Oct 21 – saturday – check in hotel in Tokyo station area of Tokyo, sleep
Oct 22 – sunday – train to Hakone Ryokan 1 night
Oct 23 – monday- – explore Hakone then train from Odawara to Kyoto. (2 hrs), drop off bags and explore Gion, Philosopher’s path, Higashiyama Jisho-ji, Honen-in temple, Pontocho
Oct 24 – tuesday- Kyoto – Kiyomizu-dera Temple opens 6:00 am, Hokanj Temple and Yasaka Shrine, Chion-in temple, Nishiki Market (closes at 6:00)
Oct 25 – wednesday- Kyoto – Fushimi Inari at dawn, Rengeoin Sanjusangendo, Higashihonganji Temple, Nishi Hongan-ji. Pontocho
Oct 26 – thursday – Kyoto -Kinkaku-ji Temple (Golden Temple) – arrive 8:30 for 9;00 open, Okochi Sanso Villa, Tenryu-Ji Garden, Go’0 shrine, Imperial palace (closes 5:00) Nishiki market
Oct 27 – friday -Leave Kyoto (have luggage sent to Osaka) – Nara day trip (or more Kyoto) , check in Osaka 2 nights – Dontonbouri food tour, Tombori river cruise
Oct 28 – saturday , Early train to Himegi castle – 1/2 day, then to Kobe for late lunch, return to Osaka for more Dontonbouri
Oct 29 – sunday – leave Osaka, – early train to Kanazawa (3 hrs), explore Kanazawa , hotel check in (2 nights)
Oct 30 – monday – Kanazawa – Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa castle, Ozaki shrine, Nagamachi Samurai District, Omicho Market, Higashi Chaya-gai District, Ninja Temple. Have luggage sent to Takayama
Oct 31 – tuesday – check out Kanazawa, bus to Shirakawa-go (3 hours)
then bus to Takayama, check in hotel in Takayama (1 night)
Nov 1 – Wednesday – check out hotel drop bags at new hotel – Takayama – Nakabashi bridge, Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, Miyagawa Morning Market, Higashiyama Walking Course (hokke-ji temple), Heritage Houses. Check in hotel Takayama (1 night)
Nov 2 – Thursday- check out Takayama (have luggage sent to Tokyo?) hotel morning in Takayama have lunch then train to Gero Ryokan 1 night
Nov 3 – Friday – check out 11:00 from Gero Ryokan. Train to Nagoya, then train to Tokyo (total of 4 hours travel) Tokyo Shinjuku check in for 6 nights
Nov 4 – saturday- Tokyo – explore Shinjuku – Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observation Deck, Kabukicho entertainment district, Omoide Yokocho, kitchjoji neighborhood and/or Koenji neighborhood
Nov 5 – sunday – Asakusa, Senso-ji Temple – early, Nakamise Shopping Street, Sumida Park, Yanaka food tour 10:15 am , Nezu shrine Ueno, river cruise?
Nov 6- monday-tokyo – Explore Shibuya – Shibuya Crossing, Shibuya Sky, Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street in Harajuku, Hachiko Statue, Ebisu
Nov 7th – tuesday – explore Ginza, Tsukiii market,
Nov 8th wednesday— Whatever day
Nov 9 – thursday – leave for home

  1. Kinda unrelated to your topic, really sorry. But I’m really curious. How do you know what tourist attractions of each cities have to plan the trip like this? How did you know what to do first and such and such.

    Sorry, planning to do solo-tour of two weeks of Japan in late 2024 or early 2025 and just looking around for idea of going on tour packages or planning by myself
