I have a question about kanji

I already have base knowledge of japanese.

I’m using the minna no nihongo textbook currently to do some studying, should I learn the kanji alongside the lessons or should I do that separately

  1. kanji isn’t a separate thing, it’s just how words are spelled

learn a word’s proper spelling along with it’s pronunciation and meaning

you can memorize kanji individually if you really want, but it’s not how one reads, just like one doesn’t read letter by letter in english. if it helps with memorizing vocab and recognizing the difference between similar characters, then it can’t hurt, but i wouldn’t fixate on it
