Tried to organize a room through Modern Living Tokyo but ran into some problems

I was looking for a short stay Sharehouse as I stumbled across Modern Living Tokyo.

I received an appointment for the house tour, which was done via WhatsApp Video Call.

I was sent a contract which I had to sign and send back, along with 20.000 YEN as a Reservation Fee which would allegedly be subtracted from my first monthly payment.

I ran into some issues regarding the payment method, where I wanted to pay by credit card but the bank information given wasn’t sufficient enough to complete my transaction, so I contacted my “room tour person” who sent me the contract to begin with about my issue, asking him for further Information about their Bank Account.

That was 2 days ago. I didn’t receive no Email nor DM on WhatsApp which increased my suspicion. Before, I received a new Mail the same day after I asked another question but this time around I feel like I’m missing something.

Is there a cultural thing in Japan, where “no message” is a Metaphor for “No/ We don’t want you anymore” or something. I don’t intend to insult anybody with those accusations, but these are the possibilities I thought about during the wait.

What further increased my suspicion is that, no where on the Internet I am able to find the 20.000 YEN deposit, which serves as a Reservation Fee.

I would love to receive any kind of support, experiences and advice.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: the reason I am kind of “overreacting” is because my flight is on the 31st of August and I need a room by the 1st of September, so only a couple of days left to complete this task

  2. Modern Living is not a Japanese-owned company, so this is definitely not an issue of “indirectly rejecting the foreign applicant.” However, in Japan, real estate companies are typically closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, so emails are not answered quickly on those days. I predict you will have your reply by Thursday.
