  1. I love Japanese food but this was something I couldn’t understand why people were eating it when I was there. When I had it it was kinda funky and extremely slimy. I couldn’t understand why people were telling me to try this I think it was a troll. Where I’m from in Mexico they eat a lot of bugs but when people visit I just take them for carne asada tacos. My friend had natto ready when I landed. Why.

  2. Natto isn’t as bad as it looks (and smells) but I still can’t imagine being the first person to look at that and say: ‘You know, I wonder how that tastes?’

  3. LOOKS SO GOOD!

I like to have my natto with kimchi, onsen tamago, spring onions, and a dash of sesame oil.

  4. Love the onsen egg pairing and loads of spring onion! My ultimate slime fest is mixing freshly steamed cut okra into the natto with loads of karashi. Divine!

  5. It’s been super hot lately so I’ve been adding chopped cucumbers, okra, japanese yam, myoga and shiso leaves. I recommend eating vegetables that are in season in the summer because they lower your body temperature.Tomatoes would be good too.
