I live in a share house, and attend a japanese language school.
One of the housemembers tested positive for covid, and therefore I asked my teacher what I should do if I get infected as well. She wanted me to take a self test at home ASAP and send a picture no matter what the test result showed.
However, if it was positive, she said the self test was not good enough documentation for valid absence, and that I need to go to a hospital for a PCR test or something.
But how available are such appointments, and what could it eventually cost? (Need to transfer money before I do anything). Is there a chance that they think it is a waste of time to do a PCR test? (As they have turned down appointments for my other housemembers before which was a bit more serious)
Thanks in advance!

That’s an insane rule. What happens if you get the flu or other illness? You just have to go to school?
If you have symptoms and feel sick, stay home.
It will cost money, but my company sent me here back when they still required a negative PCR test to return to work.

Some internal medicine and ENT clinics have small tents or whatever outside (this was last month) and if you phone up beforehand they’ll give you a time to come in.
It cost me 4000 yen for the test and 5 days of pills – standard cough suppressors, fever reducers, etc. I don’t need a doctor’s note for my work, however, so I can’t give you a price for that.
