What’s the Cost of Living in Osaka as of 2023?

Hi there, I’m an ALT looking to make a move to Osaka, I only saw posts from before the Yen Value tanked and costs increased (substantially for someone on an ALT salary).
I also anticipate costs continuing to rise into next year, but I do expect the salary to stagnate, so I’m wondering what does it cost you to live in Osaka in 2023? – Ideally for a single person.
ESID but I’m just looking to average so I can at least estimate if its a feasible option or not.
Assuming going out to eat once a week ( I cook at home for health reasons)
Thank you in advance!

  1. Food and other stuff shouldn’t be different. Only house prices and rent would be different.

Rent will vary quite a bit depending on age of apartment, how close to a major station etc.

But if I had to hazard a completely wild average guess, 100,000 per month for a less than 10 year old 1LDK within a km from a major station.

  2. Food is not too bad, though with inflation prices have gone up a bit. A single person probably could spend around 40000 a month on food. Rent depends on where you live. I live in the outskirts of Osaka city, in a city that is right next to it, and pay 55000 a month for a 2dk (2 rooms + dining-kitchen) and I’m only 8 minutes from the station. If you choose to live in the city itself, prices will vary. but you’ll probably be paying over 50000 even for a 1dk.

  3. Assuming you are moving from Tokyo and your new apartment has the same conditions as your old one, the only thing that really makes a difference is rent.
Your cost of living right now minus 2-3 man.
