Implicitly disobedient Japanese wife

Some time ago, I married a Japanese woman, so now I have a wife who’s Japanese. We live in Japan. What I know about Japanese wives is that they are supposed to be obedient because Japanese women are trained in Japanese schools to be obedient. Japanese wives are also supposed to try to foster harmony—it’s called ‘*wa*’ in Japanese—and make sure the Japanese household runs smoothly. This is a big part of Japanese culture in Japan for Japanese people.

The trouble is, my Japanese wife grew up using her right hand to write with, but I use my left hand. My Japanese wife **WILL NOT** start writing with her left hand. She’ll even serve some Japanese dishes with her Japanese right hand! This is destroying the Japanese harmony of the Japanese household. I haven’t said anything yet because in Japan people understand things without saying them in Japanese. Still, we’ve been married in Japan for more than 15 years, all of them spent in Japan.

Do others in Japan with Japanese wives have this problem in Japan? What should I do? (Don’t tell me that I should say something in Japanese to my Japanese wife because I’m not quite at that point with the Japanese language yet.)

  1. Express your displeasure by kneeling in white robes and stoically slicing your abdomen open as your child decapitates you. Can’t believe you even had to ask smh
