I’ve tried searching online and this page for any info on how much changing to a spouse visa will cost but haven’t quite found the answer.
I am currently in Japan on an instructor visa and have been married to a Japanese national for over a year. I would like to change to a spouse visa in the near future and I would like to know how much money it usually costs after it’s all finished.
If anyone has experience with this and can help me out that’d be much appreciated.

From memory, it was either free or something like ¥3000 in admin fees, i.e. basically free.

4000 yen to change any status.
-¥4,000 fee
– ¥500 – ¥1,000 for photo (unless you can do your own)
– approx ¥350 for the juminhyo
– approx ¥350 for spouse’s Koseki
– if you don’t have a MyNumber card and/or cannot print juminhyo and Koseki at conbini then maybe cost for transport and time off work to get them from the municipality office.
– transport costs and time off work for two trips to immigration to submit application and collect spouse visa. I don’t think the current online method works for changing to spouse visa

I was looking into spouse visa options for my wife and a visa for New Zealand is like $3000.
