  1. [O-Chochin Matsuri](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iF2cA8XQJc) is a Giant Lantern Festival in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture with lanterns 10 meters tall depicting scenes from Japanese myth and history. This lantern features the story of Amaterasu Omikami, the Sun Goddess, emerging from the cave she hid herself in after an altercation with her brother the Storm God. The other gods dismayed by the absence sunlight plotted to lure the goddess out. One goddess performed the first kagura (sacred dance) which was comical in nature and caused the other gods to laugh loudly. When Amaterasu poked her head out to see what the commotion was, she was yanked out and her cave blocked off thus restoring sunlight to the land.
