Tips on throwing unbranded bloated power bank from amazon

I researched that it’s possible to put bloated battery or branded power bank on recycle box in electronic store, but how about the big unbranded one that I got from amazon? Will I get fined or I should throw them on recycling day intead? Thanks in advance!

  1. I would go to the electronics store and ask. You definitely can’t put power banks out with recycling.

  2. I had one fail in the same way recently, and took it to Yamada. They accepted it no questions asked.

  3. An electronics store in a local Yokado took my bloated power bank that I bought from kickstarter without any questions.

  4. How are you defining “branded”? Just chuck it in the recycle box at the electrical store if that’s where they go – “branded” or otherwise.

  5. Tried doing this recently:

    – Ward website said take any lithium batteries) to an electronics store

    – Site for the group of electronic stores said we don’t accept bloated batteries

Both Bic and Yodabashi refused it because of the bloating. One said to call the ward recycling centre (which again, they don’t take lithium batteries), another said to send it to the maker (not in the country). A few people seem to have gotten Bic/Yodabashi to take theirs, but they aren’t supposed to, so maybe try to find a smaller store where the employees might be less knowledgeable about what they’re allowed to accept, I guess.

YMMV, your ward may let you throw it away so check their site, but in the end I literally could not dispose of mine legally, so it uh… mysteriously disappeared.
