Yoshinoya. Hmmm… I may have a karubi don with kimchi set today after work.
But Sukiya’s cheese gyūdon is better, and comes with Tabasco sauce.
Sukiya – in general I prefer the way they season their beef with a bit more flavour in the meat over the more stale Yoshinoya and Matsuya.
The other reason was when Yoshinoya stopped selling beef and went pork cos they only source beef from the US, whereas Sukiya uses Australian beef and wasn’t affected for the longest time.
Sukiyaaaa
There are a lot more Sukiya than Yoshinoya in this area, so it’s mainly Sukiya here. Both of those are basically fast food, though, so finest beef bowl is not a description I would use. Homemade is much better.
Sukiya on a good day…
Yoshinoya.
Sukiya tastes very bland to me. I guess that’s why they have to offer so many toppings.
Matsuya is ok too.
Matsuya. I like my gyudon with a bowl of miso soup to wash it down.
I tend to lean towards Sukiya as in my area there are a couple 24hr locations which are my go to for late night snacks. Also, don’t sleep on the 7-11 gyudon, those are actually pretty solid and great when you just need to grab a quick snack.
Matsuya’s tonjiru is top tonjiru. Bibimbap bowl with tonjiru and a bin beer is my main go-to.
Depends on what I’m looking for that day. For just a beef bowl, Yoshinoya is my fave. But if I’m more in the mood for a teishoku I’ll hit up Matsuya (usually the gyu yakiniku teishoku or the hamburg w/egg teishoku). And if I want some interesting topping like cheese on the beef bowl I’ll look for a Sukiya.
For the plain beef bowl →Yoshinoya For the cheese beef bowl → Sukiya
I like all 3, but matsuya is my fav. The cheese and kimchi was my fav, but there isn’t one in my local area, so sukiya and yoshinoya are both acceptable, though sukiya is like 2 km closer
For Taste: Yoshinoya. For value: Sukiya. If I go to Matsuya, I’ll usually order a different menu item (non-gyudon).

It WAS Yoshinoya for years until that one day….
