Hi,
I started learning Japanese and sometimes, I want to say a sentence out loud to practice my conversation “skills” (pretty non-existant, but that’s why I want to practice!).
So I use a translator to say the sentence out loud, to see if the English translation makes sense. BUT: I’m too slow! So if I use google translator for instance, it cuts me off in the middle of the sentence. I haven’t found a way to change that in the settings. I like google translate, don’t get me wrong, it’s super useful, but I can only use it for written stuff.
Do you know of any voice translators that let you formulate a sentence at your own stumbling pace without cutting you off and starting the translation process halfway through?
Thank you 🙂

Why not just use the dictation function (Hello Google/Siri) and then paste that into your translation tool of choice? Also, try saying shorting sentences. That might help as well.
It might be a fun exercise, but you should know that none of these tools are 100 % reliable. So, don’t rely on them too much.
I think you could formulate the sentence in your hesd, say it out loud, and then type it into your translator. I don’t think you’ll gain much more from saying it into the translator than you will from just saying it normally from your mind (don’t just read it out though).
You could also record it using a voice recorder app and play it back to listen for errors such as intonation. If you compare your voice to that of native speakers, you can tell where to improve.
