I am new to living in Japan! I mostly understand and quite like the trash/recycling sorting system. One thing I am unsure about is when to put out aluminum foil. Does it go in the “incombustibles” yellow bag or is it put in with the metals (cans etc.)? Much appreciate the help!

Check the information for your city. Trash rules vary from place to place.
If you tell us where you live we could give you the link to your municipal office. Yeah, it varies by city.
Note in addition to the other comments: Tokyo is not a city
It depends on where you live. Near the trash collection place there should be a sign with a Web site or at least a telephone number listed: look at or call that.
In our area, aluminum is not burnable.
If at all dirty (food residue) we’d put it in burnable.
