  1. I’m commenting since I’m curious too. Is Tinder the right place to find friends tho?

  2. Find a job, join a club, learn the language, visit events/cafes/restaurants, etc., travel around, apps for finding friends which are not Tinder…, teach your mother tongue/something else…

Just what came into my mind without thinking.

  3. I found that going to the same places and doing the things I wanted to do was best for me. That way I found like minded people.

I like skiing so I ski at the same place. I see the same people and started asking if I could ride the lift with them. I also play golf. People love to be matched with me because they don’t know what to expect (7 HDCP and from the back). I found a course that is cheap and asked what they do about single golfers. It turns out they have 2 or 3 groups first thing in the morning reserved for single golfers where they group together. Joined the single group many times and now I’m part of the 8AM starting crowd. I can also go to other courses and people know me right away (some I’ve never even met) because the golf world is so interconnected.

  4. What hobbies do you have? Do those, find groups that do the same

Join a sports club, do crafts, hang out at bars, whatever. Do that, talk to other people doing the same

  5. There are so many good groups in meetup that are English/mixed. Board games, travel, snowboarding, air soft, etc. I’ve made some good friends through it, and are even meeting 6 of them to do a (second) scavenger hunt through the Yamanote line.

You just need to get yourself out there!
