We are planning a two week trip to Hokkaido with a camper van in September /October, the itinerary depends on the weather. When looking up campgrounds, we noticed that most of them require an address in Japan to book. Does anyone have recommendations on how to book campgrounds in Japan as a foreigner? Should we just get there and book on the spot and only book weekends in advance?
Thanks in advance!

This place doesn’t ask for an address. I’m sure if you call other places they will accept your reservation
Be sure to book your spots as fast as possible since Japanese people tend to reserve things way earlier than other countries
Who did you rent the campervan from?
Below is a Google maps list with many rest stops/campsites all over japan. May not be up to date though

Some campgrounds are reservation only, I would definitely call beforehand. It’s uncommon to just show up.
