20-25 days itinerary (only Tokyo and Kyoto in this post)

We’re planning to visit the following cities in a 20-25+- days trip (if possible of course) in late April – early May.

– Tokyo
– Kyoto
– Osaka
– Okinawa
– Nagoya
– Nara
– Hokkaido
– Hiroshima
– Kanazawa
– Hakone
– Yoron Island (not important, but if we do have free time indeed, then why not visit it for a day)

We just started with the planning, and in order to avoid getting overwhelmed, I thought of asking about the two first cities we started planning. This way, we can address them before delving into the next ones and come here with a wall of text that noone’s gonna likely read.

#### How many days do you think we’re gonna need for these 2 cities for the sightseeings listed below? Is maybe any of these not worth the visit? If yes, do you have a better idea?

  1. You should change the flag. Your post is gonne be deleted in no time without providing more information about your itinerary.

Thats not feasible at all. You‘d need at least 10 more days or even double the amount of time for all that locations you listed. For the sights you mentioned I would suggest:
    Tokyo (5 days)
    Kyoto, Osaks, Nara (6-7 days)

    then for the other locations:
    – Hiroshima (2 days)
    – Okinawa (5-6 days if you want to visit the smaller islands)
    – Kanazawa (2 days)
    – Hakone (1 day)
    – Nagoya (idk if you just want to visit the city or the sourroundings/Kiso valley, depending on that 1-4 days)
    – Hokkaido (anything between 2 and 14 days :D)

I think you should rather focus on some regions you want to explore than trying to visit anything from the most southern to nothern Japan. I think you def have to drop either Okinawa or Hokkaido – also depending on the season you are going to visit.

Btw: If you want to visit Kanazawa, also consider Takayama nand Nagano prefecture.

  2. Just to spell it out. With 25 days, 11 “cities” (two of those are prefectures, one island) it gives you 2.3 days per location. Or 55 hours. Excluding travel time.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, just hoping it serves as a reality check. This is very little time, luckily /u/ExpressionNo1067 gave you excellent suggestions how long to allocate to the major cities!
