don’t fall for it, usually a scam if it’s a random whatsapp message
> No idea how they got my WhatsApp.
randomly throwing numbers at a wall and hoping someone answers.
1) if you reply they know you’re a “live” number and will send more spam
2) the “scam” here is usually you’ll be offered a “too-good-to-be-true” job but you’ll need to pay them $some amount to take a “certification” or “improve your position in hiring queue”.
Scam
100% a scam.
A fellow posted up with a similar question last week, they had supposedly shipped his workstation and debit card and there was an import fee to be paid – to a nonexistent shipping company.
Another variant of the scam is that they use your account to receive transfers for “clients” which you then forward on their behalf – usually these transfers are from other victims.
On top of the short term cash grabs, shortly after the “interview”, they offer you the job and provide a number of employment documents you need to fill out which involve your personal and banking information. They will usually ask for the following information:
* Picture of your residence card and/or driver’s licence
* Bank account numbers and account information (such as passwords)
* A photo
* Home country tax ID (Social Insurance Number, Social Security Number, etc.)
* Home address and all phone numbers
* Address history
* Home country contact (mother, etc.)
They use the information they get from you to engage in identity theft, such as applying for lines of credit in your name.
Did you send them an application? If you didn’t, then how are they offering?
sometimes when I get such messages that I’m 100% sure are scams, I just play dumb and see how far they are willing to go. I just keep giving them dumb answers and ask for detailed explanations to everything until they give up lol
Unrelated but would you happen to know if transportation reimbursement is supposed to be included in total salary from the company? My boss is saying it is now that I’m getting less per month because earlier in the year it wasn’t as far as my math is concerned.
If it is, my question is I am supposed to report that amount on my tax return as salary but under transportation expenses which is also non taxable so I get a bigger refund?
Is this the norm in Japan? Thanks
Company seems legit, they have Glassdoor reviews and seem to be hiring, but only in India. However there is no guarantee that the person contacting you is actually from this organization. Scammers will pretend to be with legit orgs to scam you. Unless you actually get an email that’s from this domain I’d stay away, and even then I’d be suspicious.
I’ve been receiving those kind of message. It looks like spams. They try to attract you with a juicy offer.
I wouldn’t trust cold messages on Whatsapp especially if the number isn’t japanese. And they don’t identify the company. And I never gave them my number.
I get these quite often, especially since I have a BC, Canadian number. Some in Chinese, because of Western Canada’s majority Chinese diaspora. It’s a scam. Make sure your profile photo and status are set to “Contacts only” and not “everyone”. Usually, when they see that it’s an active account, they bombard you with unsolicited offers. Regardless, I block them without them even seeing it’s “read”, because I turned off read receipts.
First red flag: WhatsApp
Second red flag: job offer without a number of interviews first.
Scam 100%
No Legit company will contact you on “WhatsApp”
AFAIK that app is only used by foreigners. It was even a thing when I lived in the states.
