Is there a Japanese version of Advance Auto or AutoZone?

  1. Try AutoBacs, it gave me the Advance Auto Zone and AutoZone vibes.

If you need something you’ll need to be able to provide your car information.

  2. Autobacs and Yellow Hat are the two main chains.

Within Autobacs, you have the “Super Autobacs” shops, which have a much larger variety of stock.

  3. Not that I’ve ever seen. At least not for anything but car care stuff (Autobacs).

There are actual parts shops, many of which are small, hole-in-the-wall looking places, as they usually do delivery to repair shops. Walking in is OK, but it’s not a store vibe. Just a counter with racks and racks of car parts.

If you buy directly from this kind of store, there’s usually a discount 5% for OEM parts, and a lot more for aftermarket. The difference being whether or not the box says Toyota or Nippon Denso.

The trick is finding them. They generally don’t deal much with the public, so many won’t have a website.

Here’s an example of a large parts supplier here in Okinawa, Naha Buhin [http://naha-buhin.jp/](http://naha-buhin.jp/) As you can see, there’s not a lot of info on parts… You have to actually go there.

Just try searching your city with 自動車部品

Edit: make sure you have the title for whatever you’re looking for. The system relies on not just year, make, model, but the VIN, the katashiki and ruibetsu numbers, etc. Without these numbers, the computer system won’t be able to find your exact car.

  4. Local parts stores will order anything you need from the OEM, just show up with your registration so they can search parts by VIN. Also if you can wait a few days there are tons of shops on Rakuten that sell normal wear parts like brake rotors etc.
