One Day in Osaka, looking for non-attraction ideas

Hello!

I’ll be in Japan for 2 weeks. 5 of those days I will be in Kyoto. I was thinking of popping over to Osaka for one of them, but trying to figure out what I should do there or where I should go. I already am doing lots of art/attraction type stuff in Tokyo, doing temples/shrines in Kyoto, and spending a night in a ryokan in Hakone. I was thinking for my Osaka day of just doing something dissimilar to those things. I searched around the sub, but a lot of the posts are about more sight-seeing based stuff, or larger itineraries.

In other words, looking for more city based experiences. A place I need to shop, a place I need to eat, a place I need to drink, a place I need to people watch, etc is along the lines of what I am thinking of. I enjoy thrifting and I’ve heard thrifting in Osaka is good. I am also open to something attraction based if it’s a truly “you’ve got to see this, it’s amazing and is unlike anywhere else” type experience. I’ve taken a lot of random city based trips around the US, and I basically just stay in a cool part of town and walk around and experience the city. So I am thinking something along the lines of that, just not sure what area I should be in to have an exciting impromptu adventure.

Thanks!
