Anime is no doubt, Japan’s strongest cultural export and has given the country a boost in popularity
I’ve been a fan of anime for a long time and I remember in the late 90s and early 2000’s, “otaku” was a commonly used term in the west to refer to anime nerds but now a new disparaging term was created in the English speaking world to refer to them: “weaboo” or “weeb.”
Amazing that this subculture have managed to create new disparaging terms 😂
I also speak Spanish and “otaku” is still the commonly used term to refer to anime nerds in the Spanish speaking world
