It is a beautiful thing to have just enough, also love hotels
TLDR the cheap rent and prime location make up for the coffin like space.
This is not a positive. It is a sad story of younger people making do with less than their predecessors because they can’t afford better.
I feel like the answer should be obvs. This isn’t something unique to Tokyo. You see this happening I NYC, Seoul, all over the world in big bustling cities really
I’m guessing they’re extroverts who like to spend most of their time out in Tokyo.
Next article: Why are young people so attracted to 1 hour commutes? What you’ll find is shocking!
I’d rather go back to my homecountry instead of living like this once more, husband and me shared a 1K once it was horrible… It’s literally work – cage, work – cage
Probably because it’s affordable, convenient and extremelly well located. Not having to commute makes a world of difference in Tokyo. I still have nightmares of using the den-en-toshi line during peak hours.
Everytime I get the urge to move back to Japan I see this kind of article and reminded of why I decided to leave in the first place.
