Hi, I’m going to be living in japan for a year and I’m trying to figure out what medicine I can buy out there. The main one is Amitriptyline, which I take twice a day, so I don’t want to bring it from my home country because it’d mean packing 700+ pills. Does anyone know if you can get Amitriptyline over the counter in Japan? And if so for how much?
I’ve googled a bunch and I can’t figure out how to check these things, so if anyone knows a reliable site, let me know. Thanks!

I usually check the Kusuri-no-Shiori (Drug Information Sheet) website to see if a medication is available in Japan.
For example:

It appears to be a prescription drug: [https://www.kegg.jp/medicus-bin/japic_med?japic_code=00065073](https://www.kegg.jp/medicus-bin/japic_med?japic_code=00065073) that comes in 10mg or 25mg forms. You’d need to go to a clinic and have them prescribe it for you.
