Anyone here do Judo

I’ve been doing it on and off (due to personal set backs and lockdowns) for a few years now and really enjoy it. I know it’s like THE sport in Japan! Any of you do it and enter competitions?

  1. I mean if you were going to call any sport THE sport here, it’d probably be baseball.

  2. I had a circle of Judo friends in Kansai back in the day. We trained together and did team tournaments and had a Line chat and everything. I’m back in the States now, but Judo was one of the main ways I made friends over there.

  3. Haven’t tried judo but did bjj for a while. It was pretty nice and i felt there was a lot of tournaments. Can’t speak for is older brother judo however.

  4. Haven’t done a competition in a while (ya know Covid) but I started Judo about 6 years ago.

I’m a judo practitioner or “judoka” and I’ve traveled to Japan plenty of times before the pandemic. Most of my Japanese friends aren’t really familiar with judo at all. I’d say sumo is more popular than judo as a spectator sport

As mentioned earlier, baseball is the most popular spectator sport in Japan

    After baseball, football/soccer is popular
