Contact lenses for more than 2 months

Hi everyone. I need help with a tiny little thing that is worrying the hell out of me because I didn’t knew or was advised before my trip to Japan.

So, I will be traveling to Japan on a student visa for about 10 months, the problem is, I use contact lenses, a pair usually does it for about 1,5~2 months, but I just learned that lenses work differently in Japan, which I had absolute no idea of.

What to do now? I have 5 pairs left that were supposed to last me the 10 months of the trip, what can I do to bring all of them legally into Japan?

Thank you all for your help, to anyone that’s curious, my flight is tomorrow at night and I will be arriving at Japan on August 31st at approximately 7pm (Japan time).

Basically, you can bring more than 2 months worth of contact lenses but you have to submit a form called “Yunyu Kakunin-sho” before arrival.

  2. We went on a 3 month sabbatical and my husband takes depression drugs. We filled out all our forms in advance. No one looked at it.

In case they destroy some (which they wont) you can buy them in Japan (at least in 2016).

Please dont worry about it, you will be fine. Japanese ppl are really helpful!

  3. I brought a year’s worth of contacts over with no problem and I definitely didn’t know about the form.

If you do have any trouble, which I doubt, it’s very easy to get contacts in Japan and they’re very affordable.

I hope you have a smooth flight and enjoy your time in 日本!
