Extending from student visa to job hunting visa?

Hi everyone,

Good afternoon.

As the title says I wanted to ask if there is a way for me to extend my student visa to job hunting visa ( or any that can help me buy more time for job hunting)

I will put my situations below:

1. Graduating on this September
2. Student visa end at December 15th
3. Currently doing a full time intern and still waiting for the result of my full time application on the company
4. Still doing job hunting to any position mainly one that doesn’t require N1 level.

Given the circumstances that I have does anybody have advices?

Reply and suggestion will be very helpful during this time.

Thanks!

  1. Are you attending a degree (university) program or a language school?

For a university, yes, it is fairly simple.

For a language school, much less so (not generally doable, but if special circumstances apply…)

  2. I don’t really know the specifics, but hearing from both TokyoU and Waseda, students just apply to a couple jobs and that’s sufficient proof for the office to extend their visa.
Since you mentioned you were doing job hunting, giving them proof of doing so should be deemed sufficient…?

I’m probably not being helpful at all, but in any case good luck with your full time application 🙂

  3. You should have the results for job hunting pretty soon (for a start in April), and that should be enough proof I believe.
